Malaysia Residence Pass

The Malaysia Residence Pass (RP-T) is a justly new adding to Malaysian work permits. It permits the bearer to work in Malaysia for a maximum ten years without being reliant on a particular company, and it is renewable. Moreover, the Residence Pass owner’s spouse and children under 18 can come to Malaysia. They are also permitted to work and study in Malaysia (though the former is only applicable to the spouse). Yet, the Residence Pass Malaysia is only delivered to talented overseas workforces who accomplish specific standards, which is why it is frequently mentioned as a Malaysian Talent Pass or Talent Visa. Only overseas workforces who are by now in Malaysia can apply for the Residence Pass Talent.

You are qualified to apply for a Malaysia Residence Pass Talent if:

• You have resided in Malaysia for a minimum of three years on a legal Malaysia Employment Pass.
• At the time of the appeal, your Employment Pass is still legal for a minimum three more months.
• You are a “high achieving” expert and can aid grow Malaysia’s economy.
• You have at least five years of work knowledge.
• You earn a salary of at least RM15,000 per month (excluding bonuses and allowances).
• You own academic qualifications from a standard educational institute.
• You have compensated income tax in Malaysia for a minimum of two years.
• You own a Malaysian income tax file number.

• Healthcare
• Financial Services
• Business Services
• Communications, Content and Infrastructure
• Electrical & Electronics

• Wholesale and Retail

These trades are involved in the National Key Economic Areas (NKEA) as defined in the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) of the Malaysian Government.

When submitting application for a Malaysian Residence Pass, you should have the following subsidiary documents:

• Form IMM12 (Visit Pass appeal form) Note: You can download these documents at the RP-T application website
• Form IMM16 (Residence Pass appeal form) Note: You can download these documents at the RP-T application website
• Malaysia Sponsor Form (A statement they support your Residence Pass appeal) Note: You can download these documents at the RP-T application website
• A No Objection Letter from the current company.
• Copies of all the sheets on your valid passport
• Three passport-size photos of yourself taken in front of a light blue background
• Copies of all your educational certificates
• A photocopy of your work agreement
• Your resume
• Photocopy of your payslips from the last three months
• Photocopy of Tax statement from the last two years
• A Recommendation Letter (testimonials)

If you are also appealing for a spouse or dependent child, you should have extra documents, such as:

• Copies of all the sheets of their passport
• Photocopy of wedding or birth certificate. The copy should be endorsed as a Certified True Copy (CTC) by the Consulate of your state in Malaysia.
• Three passport-size photos of them taken in front of a light blue background.

All papers submitted have to be in English. If they are not, they should be interpreted, and both the original and a copy have to be provided.

Indonesian visa authorizations are divided into the following types, based on the purpose, and the Malaysia Expatriate Talent Service Centre (MYXpats Centre) who manages Malaysia Residence Pass Talent appeals. You should submit the request online via https://rpt.talentcorp.com.my/, where you also affix all the required papers. You also have to compensate a visa processing charge of RM300 at the time of petition. The due payment is completed online by Visa or MasterCard. When your Residence Pass is managed, you also have to compensate an extra fee of about RM2,000 per appeal to get it issued. You have to pay the charge and submit your passport to the Immigration Department of Malaysia to get your Residence Pass sticker.

As per the Malaysian Immigration Department, a sort of Malaysia Residence Pass is also delivered to the following groups of overseas citizens:

• A family associate of a Malaysian national
  • Lawful spouse
  • Child under 18
  • Biological parent
  • Parents-in-law with a legal Pass in Malaysia
  • In demand to be qualified, family associates of a Malaysian national should have resided in Malaysia with a legal Pass for a minimum of three years.
• A family associate of Permanent Resident of Malaysia
  • Lawful spouse
  • Child aged equal to 18 or under 18
  • In demand to be qualified, family associates of a Malaysian PRs should have resided in Malaysia with a legal Pass for a minimum of five years.
• An ex-Malaysian national who either:
  • Rejected their nationality
  • Lost their nationality

In all situations, the claimants should have a Malaysian guarantor who is a minimum of 21 years old. Any Malaysian national over 21 years of age is qualified to be a guarantor. The groups mentioned above of claimants should submit their Residence Pass appeal and the necessary documents in person at the workplaces of the Malaysia Immigration Department in Putrajaya or the closest Immigration office. Both the claimant and the guarantor have to be present when applying.

When submitting application for a Malaysia Residence Pass at an Immigration office in Malaysia, claimants should have the resulting documents:

• Residence Pass appeal form (Form IMM16a)
• Photocopy of all pages of their valid passport, and any passports they earlier had.
• Two passport size photos
• Photocopy of their guarantor’s ID card.

Then, supplementary documents based on their status contain:

• For spouses: Copy of wedding certificate
• For children: Copy of birth credential or adoption documents.
• For biological parents of a Malaysian citizen:
  • Copy of birth credential of their Malaysian child.
  • Copy of their Malaysian child’s ID card.
  • Copy of their wedding certificate.
• For spouse/child of Malaysian national: Two copies of the Malaysian spouse/parent ID card.
• For spouse/child of Malaysian PRs: Copy of their spouse/parent’s Permanent Residence identity card (MyPR).
• For ex-Malaysians:
  • Copy of their valid passport, and any passport they previously had.
  • Copy of their birth credential
  • Copy of their Declaration of Renunciation of Malaysian Nationality (Form Y / K) OR a copy of their Order of Loss of Malaysian Nationality.

Copies of birth and wedding certificates (non-Malaysian) should be endorsed as a Certified True Copy (CTC) by the Consulate of the respective nation in Malaysia. All papers have to be in English. If they are not, they should be interpreted, and both the original and a copy have to be submitted.
