Overview
Canadian Government, as with entire nations in the world, has a visa for ambassadors and representatives from overseas countries who desire to visit Canada on official obligations. That is the Diplomatic and Official Visa. But some individuals do not necessarily meet the requirements in the posts that are permitted to obtain the Diplomatic and Official Visa but own a significant position in their Government and have official responsibilities in Canada. To assist these persons, the Government of Canada has formed the Courtesy Visa. The Courtesy Visa meaning is that it has the same guidelines as the Diplomatic and Official Visa. Once an individual has it, they are permitted to visit Canada for a certain duration only if they have official responsibilities in Canada. They are not allowed to extend their visa or try to claim Canadian nationality. They are also not permitted to attempt and get Canadian allotted papers or apply for Canadian aids such as health insurance. If they do not have official obligations in Canada, but desire to visit the country, they should do so by applying for the Visitor Visa rather than applying for the Courtesy Visa.
